The End of An Era

Am I talking about good ol’ Washington Mutual?  No.  I’m talking about something nearer and dearer to my heart – the $45 a year blog plan at HostMySite.

A number of my clients have WordPress blogs that are tweaked to look like “normal” sites.  This gives them the ability to maintain the website themselves.  Part of the charm of this setup was the $45 fee that HostMySite charged for hosting these blogs.  $45 a year for hosting at a company that gives gold-star service.  It was a sweet, sweet deal.

Today I went to HostMySite to get same more detailed information about the blog plan.  I couldn’t find anything about it on the site.  I called and was told that they’re no longer offering the plan.

I’ll still recommend HostMySite but now I’ll tell people to get the Linux Builder plan.  It’s an OK account and that’s what I have my non-WordPress clients get.  But oh, that $45 a year blog plan was a good deal.
